York Uni. freshers intro talks. Congrats to the whole exec and the cinematography society for their videos. Also got to catch up with John Grogan, York’s MP, and leading top up fees rebel.
On Monday I received requests from half of the NEC, asking me not to fulfill the mandates outlined in the motion about Tariq Ramadan, until a more informed discussion took place.
SU visits – Leicester Uni., Leicester College, De Montford University (bit of a Leicester day there you’ll notice), Surrey Institute of Art and Design.

Met with UUK, Baroness Warwick and Diana Green amongst others to discuss a variety of issues including, student loans (the general chaos) and encouraging universities to be flexible with their students in terms of payment of fees or rent, and what measures they would be putting in place to ensure that there is parity in terms of how universities intend to implement bursaries and top up fees. Now a regular date in the diary.
ESF – Spoke on Sunday evening at Alexandra Place on the topic of ‘crisis in higher education’. Also on the platform were my equivalents from around Europe, leading to not only an interesting and lively debate but also stronger national working relationships
Finally got to the hairdresser!
