12–18 July
- Meeting with the AOC www.aoc.co.uk, unbelievable this is the first full bilateral with the AOC the NUS has had. It seemed to be a productive meeting, although perhaps with years to catch up on the agenda was rather too long. In a year where the Tomlinson Review of 14–19 education, could see the biggest shake-up of the sector in easily 50 years it’s vital that our links with those bodies engaged in the FE sector become as strong as those in the HE sector. For example the Learning Skills Council .(LSC) has no student representation on it at any level, something we have to change.
- The 13th was my Graduation from Leeds University. Gowns and all.
- Liberation 2004, an event in it’s current form that I initiated, I really enjoyed being given the chance to open it.
- NUS Ents Convention.
- Met with Mary Bansford, General Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), to discuss our priority campaigns and their representation of teacher trainers.
- Interviews for the new NUS Press Officer.
