Regional Conferences – The third term Regionals took place at the end of May. This was an amazing experience. I really enjoy regional conferences because we get to meet the new elected Union officers and this year we elected the new regional observers to the National Executive Committee.
I was on the East Side. The week began in Chichester on Monday with the South East. Tuesday in Cambridge at APU. Then Sheffield Hallam University at their new venue HUBS for the East Midlands. Then finally at Durham College for the North East. Your NEC for the East side were rather fatigued by Thursday, a lot of driving over four days and squeezed into a Renault Clio. Myself, Kat, Sian and Joe Rukin got on famously. I look forward to November for the Autumn Regionals.
Other bits: I am currently trying to organise an Environmental Committee meeting to wrap up the year before the new convenor(s) take over.
I have begun to plan the new Education Campaign and will be ready to present it to the NEC meeting on the 11th July. I want to make sure that we tackle current student funding issues while continuing to fight against tuition fees in all its forms.
I have LGBT Conference in Edinburgh next weekend and the following week I will begin my handover with Hannah Essex the outgoing VP Education.
I have just finished my degree; my final exam took place last Friday. They went well and will graduate in November.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OUT GOING OFFICERS AND NEC MEMBERS. IT’S BEEN A PLEASURE WORKING WITH YOU THIS YEAR!
