| After the general election, where I felt myself surplus to requirements on the ‘get the vote out tour’, I managed to get a bit of a holiday. A whole week in Centre Parcs with Lorna, Alex and her family. Her sister Shelley had a baby three days after we did, so we went the lot of us and their Mum. A holiday. Thank God for that. The problem is, I missed an NEC meeting which I feel the repercussions of all year. It made some decisions which weren’t necessarily the best and maybe, just maybe hadn’t been totally thought through. OK, not necessarily bad, just short sighted, and all financial. There was another short trip to NUSSL to have an enlightening day hearing about a till project (EPOS). I haven’t ceased to be impressed with their setup. I did make to the next emergency NEC meeting on the 20th, when it seemed I was just playing catch up. Still no-one seemed to be adequately explaining what had happened on the 13th about the way expenses would be changed. Had no-one spotted I would be Treasurer soon? Well it seemed partly I think down to the fact different people had vastly different recollections of what had happened back then. Well anyway, next up back on the regional tour. I couldn’t make the South East (again, sorry I’ve only ever missed 2 of the 24 I’ve had to go to, and they have both been in that region). So to APU Cambridge, Sheffield Hallam and Durham I went. Besides having a nap in the lunch break at one event (Alex had not been kind) and getting a bollocking for it, there wasn’t much spectacular to report, besides my spectacular boredom about sitting in a car with people talking about what was in ‘Heat’ magazine all week, I was mostly thinking ‘shit I’ve got elected’ all week. It was definitely still sinking in .
