Can't stand the heat?
25/09/2006

Don't come to Wales we have fire breathing Dragons

Since the last BLOG, WOW has it kicked off! I remember when I had enough time to watch television.

Getting out and about is great but it is like being naughty as a kid and having to go home and face the music of all the work on your desk.

The first event I attended was an Excellent Active Political Leadership (Fantastic event, one that I would definitely recommend). After that it was back to the land of our fathers, getting around Unions to assist with training and attending those wonderful meetings with Political Parties in Wales as well as the funding Council and Assembly.

Whilst attending such meetings/events we were all trying desperately to prepare and organise for the 'Big Welsh One' (NUS-Wales Campaigns launch). The week of the event I also attended the National Campaigns launch in Birmingham that was a real success so congratulations to all involved. On that day I also found out that I am having a baby boy in January, (While I would have loved to be at the scan NUS is a way of life) so great news.

Then to Lampeter for the 'Big Welsh One' where I launched my Priority Education Campaign 'BACK FOR THE FUTURE' (Please let me know what you think of the title etc). As well as HE development work 'LEGENDS' as anyone can do the 'LEG' work as a Sabbatical it is 'END'ing it and leaving your legacy on the people you represent that makes you a LEGEND (well I thought it was good).

The Welfare, Liberation and Womens Campaigns were also launched at this event and I would like to congratulate those people who presented as well as thanking the staff who made it possible. At this event we also had a fantastic panel debate include Member of Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrats and Plaid Cymru. Of course we finished the event with a huge section on the Demo which, every one took on board and seemed extremely enthused about.

Following the Event I have tried to get the information out to those Union's who could not make it as well as attending the Welsh NEC in SUSI (Swansea Institute). Many thanks to Swansea for hosting that meeting.

Now is that time of year again where we all role up our sleeves and get to all the freshers fairs and push everything we do and represent. Look forward to seeing you all soon. We are hoping to get to every HEI in Wales as well as, as many FE colleges.
