UKCOSA, in association with the National Union of Students is proud to present a one-day conference for international student officers and sabbaticals, 25 October 2006, London, for only £10 with lunch included and a drinks reception to close the day. Students' Unions have a key role to play in helping international students make the most of the time in the UK, and facilitating contact between home and international students. This one day conference will help you consider what unions can do to make their services accessible, to ensure full involvement by international students and gain awareness of the issues on which Unions can make a difference. Speakers will include… The Home Office, UKvisas, Department for Education and Skills, Quality Assurance Agency, Universities UK, British Council, Association of International Student Advisers, National Union of Students. Panellists will give a short response to the issues raised in the morning session, and will then take questions from the audience. Workshops will include… 1. Internationalising your union – social & welfare provision 2. Education issues: language, plagiarism and other issues 3. A charter for international students: issues and campaigns And plenaries on: 1. Supporting your work with international students: UKCOSA, NUS, and other organisations and resources 2. Is Education UK delivering? Findings from the International Student Barometer The day will start at 10.30 am and finish at 4pm.
