An Introduction
04/09/2006

My name is Issahaku Kotomah your new International Students Officer; this year is going to be a year of positive change, with the full participation of international Student officers from all Unions. To begin with, there shall be a one day UKCOSA/NUS conference on the 25th October 2006 at ULU. All international students’ officers and the NUS International Students Committee members are invited. An outline of our priority campaigns for the year ahead;

The campaigns have been categorised into Visa Charges, Representation, Tuition fees and Banking. Since we lost the our campaign against the visa charges last year, it is still important that challenge all adverse effects of the 5year immigration plan against international students, employment rights after studies should include every undergraduate as well, post card campaign.

International students are extremely important to the UK and NUS for a number of reasons, we have therefore agreed to campaign vigorously for a FULL TIME International Students Officer, campaign for representation in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Support International Student Officers their various Union and encourage the internationalisation of all Unions.

On tuition fees, we shall campaign against tuition fees above the inflation rate, campaign for increased funding for students from developing countries.

The committee shall continue to lobby the government, BBA, FSA and other stakeholders on better services for international students.
