On Monday 21st I went to the NUSSL, NUS and AMSU Change Management Seminar in Stoke with Derfel and Kat. Its and event aimed at Union managers and union officers and covered a wide range of topics including Governance – led by Derfel Owen from the NUS team – and managing democratic change.
Tuesday I headed up to Aberystwyth to help NUS Wales in the referendum there, I stayed there until Thursday 24th and it was cold! A huge massive thank you to Gary Hughes, NEC Observer and Joe Rooney and Andy Wilford from WMANUS your dedication and hard work and the fact that you took time out of your schedules to help us hasn’t gone unnoticed, you had no direct responsibility to help but yet you did and it is much appreciated. It is certainly more of an effort than much of the NEC made, only Stephen and Julian turned up, I know many had genuine reasons, but many did not even respond to my emails asking for help, some said they would then didn’t show up, Aberystwyth must just be that bit too much of an effort for them. Well I’m ashamed actually, no member is more or less important and so what if it takes 5 hours to get there, its our responsibility. Well done to NUS Wales too, a great campaign and a great result 89% say yes!
On Friday I had a much needed day in the office as understandably I had fallen behind in my emails etc. Saturday I got up very early and went to Leicester for the National Hindu Student Forum, this was an interesting, well planned and well attended day and I’m very pleased that I got invited.
On Sunday I had a day off before going up to Liverpool for STADIA conference the next week.
