A black man and a woman running at the same time
28/01/2008

A lot of you know what the above statement refers to, as many of you will be following the US Elections.

A young black man with a powerful voice and blinding charisma, a junior senator from Illinois, Barack Obama could be the Democratic hopeful for the White House.

A former first lady and frontrunner of the Democratic Party, New York Senator Hillary Clinton could be back in the White House – but this time as president!

Some black people will not be voting for Obama because he is not fully black. If he was walking in the street people would not see him as a half white/half black man, they will see him as a black man. Black Americans should not punish him because he is not ‘one of their own’.

Obama has attracted young voters; he is a man of change. I am for both Obama and Clinton, but if I had to make a choice I would vote for Obama. Some of his politics I don’t agree with but there’s a lot more of Clinton’s politics I don’t agree with. He will be a breath of fresh air in American politics; it would be nice to see someone other than a Clinton or Bush in the White House.

Super Tuesday will see 22 states casting their votes but what is happening with the two frontrunners of this party? Racist jibes, accusations...I’d rather vote John Edwards than see those that could be President of the US acting childish! But then this is politics and in politics we have to understand things can get personal and I live in Britain, not America, so I won’t be voting for any of them.
