| As an elected representative for your students’ union you are in an important position to influence what happens to your students on a local and national level. It’s vital that the voice of FE students in heard loud and clear in NUS, so we want you to come and take part in the decisions that are made about what NUS does and how it’s run. One of the ways you can do that is by attending Regional Conference. This year we have developed the Regional Conference agendas to include some specific and relevant sessions for FE officers. This round of Regional Conferences you will have a chance to attend a specific FE workshop which will give you information about the FE campaign and how to get involved and will include preparation and planning for FE Leadership Training and the year ahead. There will also be a session where you can discuss what you want NUS to do for FE students and start to write motions to submit to Annual Conference so you can influence what NUS is delivering for your unions. It’s a really great chance to network with other FE officers in your region and you will have the chance to stand for election to be a representative for your region on National Council. National Council is the body that ensures democracy operates in the interim between Annual Conferences and the meetings hold the NEC to account and directs the work of the NEC within NUS’ policy. Three representatives are elected from each region and at least one of those reps has to be from Further Education! Make sure you put your Regional Conference date in the diary now, and get you and your officers booked on by going to www.officeronline.co.uk/events See you there!
