You wouldn’t believe how long it takes to get from Lincoln to Bath and how many stations you have to change at, especially if you miss a connection due to delays – the whole system falls apart. I took the whole weekend off after that as my parents were coming down to visit – it was great to see them, we ‘did the sights’.

Key dates from my diary this month…

• NUS Services Board meet-up (Stafford)
• NUS Services Induction (NUSSL HQ, Macclesfield)
• British Youth Council Conference (London)
• NUS Services Board Meeting (NUSSL HQ, Macclesfield)
• The Big Welsh One (Trinity College Carmarthen)
• Lincoln Union visit
• Student Representative Training (Bath Spa)
• Labour Party Conference, Education fringes, Tomlinson report, Unions 21 and Save The Children (Brighton)

Alongside attending all the various education fringes (NUS, NATFHE, AUT, etc) at Labour Party Conference, I also got the chance to go to a Q&A session with Mike Tomlinson where we pre-emptively heard about the Tomlinson report (on 14-19 education), it was very interesting to hear both sides of the debate put by the panel; the general consensus was still overwhelmingly in favour of the general recommendations that we were able to discuss (before the report is published in full) even after the concerns put from the floor. I also did some work with Unions 21 and Save the Children – helping to advertise their fringe events.
