| The first two weeks of August I was in sunny Florida and got back to work on the 13 August with a strong and active union zone meeting in London where we assigned broad areas of responsibility and discussed the ongoing issues around union development including an indepth analysis of where the union governance debate is going. This was followed on the Firday with another UK zone meeting, this time it was the HE zone committee and we heard an interesting presentation on ‘homosexualising’ the curriculam in universities, we also laid out our campaign on student charters in universities and decided on the layout of our campaign ready for the campaigns convention. August was also a good month for issues meetings with a forum discussion on course rep training and ideas for the upcoming ‘have your say’ campaign in Glamorgan. As well as a HSBC campaign strategy meeting, where we talked over the campaign ideas, materials, stunts and upcoming developments. In the run up to the Big Welsh One I met with Adam in UWIC to discuss the upcoming QAA institutional review and I also met with Kirsty Williams, Lib Dems spokesperson on education, to highlight our priority campaigns for the year ahead. Then of course we had the Big Welsh One, which I was very happy to see so full and so engaging, I want to thank our hosts Glamorgan once again for the cracking venue and hospitality.
