NUS Black Students' Campaign Training Conference - REGISTER NOW!
05/11/2008

The NUS Black Students' Campaign Training Conference will take place in London on 22nd – 23rd November 2008.

The event is open to all black students (African, Arab, Asian and Caribbean students) and is one of the highlights of our calendar of activites, providing a unique opportunity to learn about the work of the campaign, and its initiatives. It also allows students to engage in debates on contemporary issues while networking and sharing information.

The conference will feature a number of high-profile speakers from the Black community. In recent years our speakers have included representatives from the Black Police Association, Muslim Council of Britain, National Assembly Against Racism, and Operation Black Vote, as well as Black journalists and MPs.

Conference will also include a number of workshops to provide delegates with training on running clubs and societies, building anti-racism campaigns and increasing black representation. Feedback from our previous conferences shows that black students attending are inspired and empowered to get active in their unions afterwards.

We strongly encourage you to promote this is an excellent opportunity for your students to be introduced to the NUS Black Students Campaign and contribute to the democracy of their unions. It also enables us to build links between the NUS Black Students Campaign and students' unions.

Every students' union can send as many delegates as they wish to this event. Food, accommodation and travel costs are covered by your students' union. Please see your students' union black students' officer, president, or staff liaison officer to register online.

Note:
There is a concessionary rate for those students who will not require accommodation on Saturday night.

Further Education students:
The Black Students' Campaign is reducing the registration fee and offering a limited number of subsidised spaces for students at FE colleges. These will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please contact me for further details.

Registrations should be completed by Friday November 7th. If it is not possible for you to register by this date but you wish to attend the Conference, please contact me immediately on bell@nus.org.uk
