'Welfare products'
14/12/2006

Dear Officer

Last year there was the interest from Student Unions in the bulk buying of condoms through NUSSL.

Since then Students Unions have continued to express an interest in the extension of the welfare products supplied by NUSSL.

There are many small HE Unions and FE Colleges that buy their products from nearby larger Unions because they cannot afford and or they don’t meet the bulk buying quota which is sometimes 2-3 times the amount of students that they have at the University or college.

Students’ Unions report that they have often spent a lot of time trying to find a reparative supplier for the product that they wish to purchase but have often failed or resulted in going off shores to places such as the USA to buy the products.

Having ‘welfare’ products supplied by NUSSL allows Students Unions to buy from a recommended suppliers who have been through the rigorous criteria. It will also allow Smaller HE Unions and FE Unions to be able to purchase products that they actually want rather than buying larger unions ‘left overs’.

So far we have met with NUSSL and a few organisations who bulk buy certain items.

We would like to know quantities of products that you buy also if you do not buy at all the reasons behind this.

If you could fill out this survey which will take no more than five minutes that would be great so that the finding can be used when negotiating with suppliers.

Survey

Thank you in advance
