| NUS recently wrote a letter to all MPs about the priority campaign, Admission:Impossible which aims to stop the cap on top-up fees from being lifted in 2009. NUS has long held concerns about the university funding system, believing that it has poor infrastructure, is costly and ineffective and will have negative impacts on both society and the economy. NUS has expressed concerns that the wider impact of fees has not been properly considered, which is why they are extremely keen to know the structure and importantly, if they will be stakeholders in the independent review that is being planned by the DfES. Since receiving this correspondence, several MPs have agreed to write to Alan Johnson requesting that he provide further information on the review. Coalition 2010 is in the process of doing the same. A number of high-profile figures have agreed to speak at the NUS Great Higher Education Debate, which is taking place on 21st March. Bill Rammell, Roger Brown, Paul Marshall and Neal Lawson are just some of the people who have confirmed their attendance.
