Unite's annual Student Living Report reports that while student debt is on the rise (suprise, suprise) parental contributions to university education are also growing. The report found that students from less well-off backgrounds are less likely to have support from their parents or to have the financial knowledge to help them steer through the minefield of student funding.

The research also reports that students are more likely to be working to fund their studies.
