The Organising Approach
This year NUS and the TUC signed a unique partnership agreement, a key
element of which was working with the TUC Organising Academy.
Since then lots of unions have been asking us - what is organising?
This newsletter starts to answer that question. You’ll find explanations and
articles all about the approach that will get you more activists and more wins
for students.
But it’s not just about a newspaper. Your local Regional Organisers, or DTOs
in the nations, can come to your union and help you locally by running an
organising audit - helping you plot and plan how to improve your active
campaigns and representation.
You’ll soon be able to get your hands on our new ‘Educational Activists’ pack
- a special training pack for course reps that really gets them active on
education issues.
There’s also our ‘Activist Academy’ events.
Our pilot in February saw over 50 staff and officers learn all about the
approach, and next year we’ll be rolling it out across the UK.
If you have any feedback for us on the agenda or on this paper, just let us
know.
Now - get organised!
