About the services NUS provides to membersNUS is a democratic organisation which is driven and directed by its membership. 98% of UK students’ unions, guilds or associations are affiliated to NUS making it the largest student organisation in Europe.
As a member of NUS you should be aware that there is a team of more than 80 highly-skilled and experienced staff working for you across the UK. These teams provide a range of services to member unions, many of which are outlined in the sub-sections of this part of the site.
The navigation on the left of this page is intended to provide a full description of all ‘service’ departments within NUS.
Obviously NUS is about much more than a range of staff delivered services and as a result this document does not reflect the totality of NUS as a national representative body.
Students need a national voice and lobbying and research on a national scale to ensure they are represented. Only your National Union can provide this collective voice, fighting for the rights of all its members across the UK. Nurses, teachers, farmers, the elderly and children all have national organisations to represent them, whether they be campaigning organisations or trade unions, students certainly require the indispensable representation and support they obtain from membership of NUS. It is because of this representation and support that students’ unions in increasing numbers decide to be members of NUS.
