Student leadership advanced 2008 –9

This course is directed at any FE students' union officer who has attended the NUS student leadership course or a HE-based officer who has responsibility for FE students at their institution/has HE students at a further education college.

Aim
This course aims to equip officers with the advanced knowledge and skills to be an effective students' union officer, representing all students in the further education system. The course will include FE casework, involving students, communication strategies, external relations and influencing college policies.

Course objectives
By the end of the course officers will

1. Have an understanding how to change college policies
2. Have an understanding how to get involved in the running of the further education sector
3. Have an action plan for the year ahead
4. Rewrite one college policy
5. Consider the challenges and opportunities in the upcoming year.
