Union Constitutions  Governing documents, such as constitutions or memorandum and articles set out the objectives and democratic structures of a students' union. The institution must review a students' union's governing documents at least once every five years.
NUS suggests the main governing documents should be as accessible and concise as possible, and supplemented where needed by regulations that offer greater detail.
Due to charity registration there will be particular clauses and forms that governing documents need to take. As such, NUS suggests you do not undergo any major changes to your constitution before the model governing clauses are agreed by NUS and the Charity Commission. We will update this page when this occurs.
