Audience: Officers with the responsibility for supporting and developing the provision of all non academic projects, promoting participation in all aspects of student activities including societies, sports clubs, and volunteering projects.
Aim: This course embraces the notion that the continual engagement and development of the student membership is the paramount to any strong and active students’ union. Focussing on both traditional and contemporary issues in and around membership development this vibrant course looks to provide officers with the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours required in achieving this.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course officers will be able to:
- Recognise the importance and relevance of students participating fully within their students’ union
- Identify and understand issues in and around membership development and how to act on them
- Explore how their respective roles fit into and contribute to the wider students’ union strategy
- Provide officers with the resources to engage, empower and mobilise students upon return to their students’ union
- Provide officers with a practical toolkit to enable delegates to fulfil their role
