How to submit motions and amend motions at International Students Conference

HOW TO SUBMIT MOTIONS
1. Enclosed with this document is a pro-forma for submitting motions. The pro-forma can also be found on officeronline.

2. You can now submit your motions by email to internationalstudentsmotions@nus.org.uk Each individual union has been given their own Security code to use. We hope this will be an easier system for Constituent Members (CMs) and also prevent allegations of fraud.

3. You may send motions via email or post: If you are sending a motion via email only ONE copy is necessary. If sending by email you must include your union pass code or they will not be accepted (You will need to speak to your President or SSLO who holds the union pass code).

4. If you are sending a motion via post please send two copies. Each copy sent on paper must be signed by a union officer or other person authorised to do so and have a passcode. Photocopied signatures will not be accepted.

5. Each motion should be no longer than 500 words, or they will not be accepted. Please make sure that the subject heading is clearly stated and that it relates to the text. TheThe International Students Committee under the guidance of the Steering Committee has the right to change headings if they are not consistent with the motion itself.

6. You may submit up to six motions all of which should be on different subjects. Do not submit more than one on the same subject or they may be ruled out of order. You may not withdraw a motion properly submitted except by submitting an amendment deleting it.

7. Each motion must state when and where it was passed. If it does not then it will be ruled out of order.

8. You must submit your motion(s) on time by 1.00pm Friday 14 March 2008

9. Motions submitted will be published and circulated after Friday 21st March 2008. No faxed motions will be accepted. Send the motions, marked Motions for NUS International Students Conference to, the Events Office at NUS, 2nd Floor, Centro 3, 19 Mandela Street. London, NW1 0DU.
