FE Leadership - Introductory, sabbatical and advanced student leadership7 -9 July Bridgewater College, Cannington Site The introductory events (at Cranfield University and Borwick Hall, Lancaster) will give student leaders within further education a grounding in the essential skills and knowledge necessary to successfully operate within their colleges and student organsations. The first day consists of executive committee training, which includes what a student organisations does and how, standards for student leaders, the law and how it applies to you and what is the FE sector. The second day allows you to specialise in modules in representation, welfare, communication and entertainments. The remainder of the event considers different methods of involving students in an active college community. The advanced and sabbatical event will allow to build upon the introductory course to allow you to become an exceptional student leader within the FE sector. The course will enable you to influence the college at the highest level and work with outside agencies that influence the learning experience of your students. You will also examine how to deal with student complaints and issues effectively within the context of your college policies. This, combined with the introductory event, will give you the opportunity to complete a successful year in your term of office.
