Students in the community conferenceMonday 9 June 2008, Leeds
This one day conference will focus on the importance of students having a vital part to play in continuing community engagement and on the comparatively recent realisation by many students' unions that their community role represents a vital part of students' interests’ off-campus. The day will seek to explore policies and action on the ground, as well as bringing together those working in students’ unions and institutions to discuss progress, pitfalls and good practice.
Many institutions are developing roles which engage directly with the local community. The event will give those already involved a chance to say what they are looking to achieve and how much impact can they have.
The event is being jointly run by NUS and Unipol Student Homes with the support and assistance of Leeds University Union.
