A day in the life of a disabled student

NUS wants to remove disablism from society and, as part of this campaign, we are incorporating articles of disabled students’ lives into the website. We hope these articles will help create a better understanding of disabled students’ lives.

As a student officer, for example, you may now be better placed to support the disabled students’ campaign to remove barriers, negative attitudes and the discouragement that many disabled students face because of discrimination, their impairments or a lack of meaningful support.

If you're a disabled student, please feel free to submit an article if you wish to describe obstacles or discrimination you encounter daily and tell us what you go through every day as a disabled student.

Please email your article to kathleen.grehan@nus.org.uk.
Please include the following in your email:

How does your disability affect your daily life
How long is your day
When do you have to get up
Do you face negative attitudes towards you because of your disability
How do you relax during the day
Does your support always work out and what happens if it doesnt
How would you like to feel and be treated
