National Conference is coming

NUS National Conference is the key decision making body of NUS. It takes place each spring, runs for three days and has almost 1400 people attending. Every students' union, guild and association is entitled to send at least one representative to participate in Conference, passing policy that sets the priorities of the national union for the coming year. Vote For Students becomes trending topic worldwide

The NUS Vote for Students campaign this week officially became a global twitter trend, making it to number two as the most talked about twitter conversation in the world. From midday on Thursday 18 February, people up and down the country ‘tweeted’ at #voteforstudents, as part of an effort to raise awareness of the campaign. Read more.

NUS warns politicians: 'Vote for students or pay the price'

NUS has launched the Vote for Students campaign, which aims to mobilise the student vote for the coming general election. The new initiative comes as the deadline for submissions to the review of student fees passes. NUS has warned that students and their families will not be prepared to vote for candidates who do not come clean on fees. Read more.

Surfing the Wave of Change

In Spring 2009, NUS published a document called A Wave of Change: The Future Landscape of the Student Movement. It was agreed that if we are to establish a new and exciting strategic direction for the student movement - one that makes a real difference to students’ lives - we need to understand the likely future landscape facing students and students’ unions.

Thousands march for Copenhagen

More than 50,000 descended on the streets of London, Glasgow and Belfast in December ahead of the Copenhagen summit in the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of action on climate chance. The protest was organised by Stop Climate Chaos, which NUS is a vocal partner, and called for a fast and fair deal when world leaders meet in Copenhagen this week. Read more.

NUS launches Student Engagement Project

NUS is pleased to announce a new project on engaging students in shaping their learning experiences in England. This joint project with the Higher Education Academy and funded by HEFCE will provide materials and toolkits for students' unions and institutions to support improved engagement of students.
